MAGic Regains Independence
Mr Alan Still likes to be self-reliant. However, in late 2000 he developed macular degeneration in both eyes and lost total central vision.
His vision decreased to the point where he was unable to drive, use his computer, read, take part in Rotary Club, play golf or garden.
To offset this problem Mr Still decided to explore electronic magnification as a way of regaining his independence. His solution was to purchase a screen magnifying program for his computer.
Mr Still is now an advocate for the magnifier and has gone so far as to say that all people with poor eyesight should have one.
“Through my eye surgeon I was put in touch with a great guy during 2001. He introduced me to Magic for my Computer. I had gained confidence and was gardening, playing competition golf and most of all attended my Rotary Club.”
Since 1991 Mr Still has been running a Rotary project to raise money each year for Education of Children at Salvation Army homes in Indonesia . He has risen over au $45,000 for the children’s homes.
“In June 2007, in the Queen’s Birthday Awards, I received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for my work with the Rotary project. The Magic program made this possible” said Mr Still.
Mr Still said “To anyone with a vision difficulty try Magic with your Computer , it could allow you to do so much. “.
