All vision impaired Australians within education or employment are eligible to apply for the 2008 - 2009 JAWS scholarships. The prize is a copy of JAWS® for Windows® Professional. JAWS® for Windows® is screen reading software that grabs information from the computer screen and sends it out in synthesised speech feedback. Documents, emails and the internet can all be spoken back to vision impaired users. Jaws software is also compatible with the PacMate products, enabling those who like to use their computers in conjunction with their Braille Displays and Note Takers.
